PhillyNORML says hello from Philadelphia

Whats up people. I see there has been an influx of Philly residents on this board and It's time we get on board as well.

I am dOc hailing from lower North Philly. I'm a dedicated Cannabis reform activist and have been so for the last 5 or so years. I am in my twenties and originally from the area. I was recently elected into the chairperson position for PhillyNORML and would love to see some more people get involved with the reform movement here in Philly.

PhillyNORML, in case you are wondering, is the Philadelphia Chapter for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Law. We have been established as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation in the state of PA. PhillyNORML has been around for about 4 years now in various forms. We hold informational Cannabis events in the local area and other events as well as an Annual Cannabis Rally for the CC: Global Cannabis March each year. We hold general public meetings the First and Third Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM at The A-Space, located at 4722 Baltimore Ave in West Philadelphia.(yes there is one tonight) We also have an online forum and several mailing lists which will keep you up to date on our progress in the area.

Most recently we were acting out against a horrible bill coming through Philadelphia City Council (Bill #060345). The newspapers dubbed it the "Blunt Bill" which bans all paraphernalia sales in the city as well as blunt cigars, you can read more about it here: http://www.phillynorml.org/bluntbill/

Thanks, unfortunately City Council unanimously passed the bill on December 14th and it is in the Mayors office waiting for his signature. He has until Jan 23rd, the next council session to reject it. If he doesn't sign it then it passes without his approval. We'll see what happens.
