espresso machine??
It depends what temps the coffee grounds spot reaches... whether it would extract them or just break them down...???
I know that steam extraction is useful for things like rose petals though.

espresso machine??
Found this post after having the same question. Would fat in the water give the thc something to bond to? Or could one use a cheap vodka that is at least 50% water to steam the herb in?. I know that the alcohol would probably burn off first but what would become of the weed/water? Could it be brewed with coffee and have an effect. There is "oil" in coffee. Would that be enough fat/lipid material for the thc to bond to? Just trying to expand my knowledge of science. Any help or educated guesses on the topic would be appreciated.

Your far easier method of making weed coffee would be to take some cream and extract the THC into THAT- quite simple- a couple grams ground bud per fluid ounce of cream, in a mason jar, simmer immersed up to the shoulders, lid ring on but not tightened fully, ~45 minutes, agitate occasionally, strain through a metal coffee 'perma filter', return to the mason jar, store in fridge until needed.
Use a tablespoon or 2 per cup of coffee, stirred in as your creamer. Mmmm. If you want to get fancy, add a cardamom pod (Turkish style), a cinnamon stick, or a vanilla bean to the cream/weed mixture as it simmers. Be warned, this is an efficient oil into oil extraction method and the flavor comes out INTENSE, so use very little of your chosen spice, or omit it.

espresso machine??
Thanks for the reply Stinkyattic, but I am not interested in an espresso machine for making cannabis coffee.(for that I add green dragon made w/Amareto to my coffee) I was wondering if there isn't a way to utilize the power of the steam to extract concentrates from the herb. That was why I inquired about using weaker vodka (more water) to steam the cannabis. I am chemistry ignorant, but considering the results of water/steam shot though coffee beans just thought there might be some potential here and wondered if anyone else had tried any experiments along this line. Just trying to expand my knowledge of science.

espresso machine??
I think an espresso machine would heat the alcohol past its boiling point.
The phrases "past boiling point" "under pressure" & "highly flammable" do not give me a warm & fuzzy feeling when placed next to each other.
Hell, I don't know, could be perfectly safe. I'd make sure there was no open flame about, though.

espresso machine??
I know that the temperature inside an espresso maker is ABOVE boiling, so above 212'F/100'C.
Perhaps it would work- there's only one way to find out! :stoned:
Did you [OP] ever try it?

Hey, I'm a little nervous about encouraging you in this one, but I have to confess, it's a intriguing concept.
Brings a whole new meaning to having a 'Russian Coffee' don't you think.
If you do end up giving it a whirl, for $#%@ sake, be careful!
If it works, and you don't blow up the kitchen, could you post up a 'methodology' for the rest of us 'space explorers' to follow.
Damn, I guess I just don't have the 'right stuff' to risk being the first one.
'It's one small espresso machine, one giant leap for Canna kind'!!!
I salute you!
Flameon (not literally of course) lol.
