My friend , 'Tom', and I were at this party. Some guy comes up to us and asks if we wanted a joint. Naturally, we said no. But after a couple of beers - he had some, I didn't; I'm still underage - he started to insist. I still said no. But he went to that guy, and asked for the joint. I tried to stop him, but both the beers had made him violent. There wasn't a thing I coud do. I tried to talk to other people about him, I tried to help him, but the others were laughing at me because I didn't smoke 'pot'. I went to the bathroom, locked myself up in there and called the police. But because of the noise of high and drunken people banging on the bathroom door, they couldn't hear the adress. I then got mad, I stormed down, threw the joint away and dragged my friend outside to clear him up, altough I was getting a bit dizy at that time. Once we were ouside, I started yelling at him about how bad drugs are. He was just standing there, smiling stupidly. The fact he wouldn't listen to me, but rather watch street lanterns, enraged me. I started yelling even harder. When he was walking away from me, I tried to grab him and turn him around. That's when he got violent. He was trying to hit me, so naturally, I defend myself. I push him away from me and he staggers into the streets. Right at that moment, a car came driving by. It hit my friend. I can still see him rolling over the hood and roof of the car. When the ambulance came, I stil was in shock. At the hospital, they were working on him for nearly two hours. When finally a doctor came out, I had a grim feeling about it. He told me, I can still hear thee words, exactly these words: "I'm sorry, Tom hasn't survived. Due to a broken rib, a lung was pierced. We did all we could." I sank to the ground and vowed to convince people not to use drugs. Once I found a box of pills in my mother's cabinet. I did the right thing and flushed them down the toilet.
