    Vaportek odor control...

I was doing some researching on some easy and inexpensive ways deodorize my grow. I thought about buying a Carbon Scrubber but those can be expensive, and loud, and hard to set up, if your a technonincumpoop like me, so I checked out some threads.

Vaportek is a company that makes deodorizers for disasters, fires, hospitals, crime scenes(dead bodies, yuk!)

Most of the people who talk about them talk about the optimum 4000 air treatment system that goes for in between $150 and $250 depending on where you bought it. TO ME THIS THING IS WAY OVERKILL FOR A NORMAL GROW. If you have thirty plants growing this thing would be optimal because it deodorizes 10,000 cu ft.

If you have a small cab with not many plants you can look at some of their other products. They have something called E-Z twist housing that holds one of their deodorizer discs. You can adjust the output by twisting the outer shell that opens and closes the holes that produce the scent. The E-Z twist housing costs like $3.00 and the discs come in packs of twelve and they cost in between $30 and $50 dollars for a box of twelve. They last about a month a peice, sometimes longer depending on what you put your setting at. There is a bunch of scents from mint to neutral.

I just placed an order for two E-Z twist housings and one pack of twelve discs. With shipping it was a total of like $40.00 tops. For one whole year of deodorization. Nice

Here is the catch. You cannot buy from Vaportek directly. And they do not sell it in stores (I beleive). Also most of the places that sell it online only carry the large stuff like the optimum 4000. But I found a place that sells every product vaportek offers...

SCM Distributors - Cleaning, Restoration and Janitorial Equipment & Supplies. They sell pretty much any deodorizing product you can think of from what I see from the website. But you can go to the dropdown box that says "find a manufacturer" Select vaportek. It will automatically take you to the "odor elimination equipment" which is the expensive stuff. You will want to go to the link right under the vaportek logo that says odor control products. This is what you looking for.

You can not purchase online itself. And the prices are not listed. You have to call or email to get a price and purchase.

On the other websites that I saw that sold vaportek stuff they sold the 12 disc sets for $50.00 minimum. scmdistributors.com sold the 12 pack for around $30.00! Each one lasts a month or more.

You can go to www.vaportek.com to read testamonials (some are nasty). But apperently this shit works wonders.

    Remember:

    1) go to SCM Distributors - Cleaning, Restoration and Janitorial Equipment & Supplies
    2) go to the drop down box that says select manufacturer.
    3) select vaportek
    4) it will default to odor elimination equipment (expensive kits)
    5) select the link right under the Vaportek logo that says odor contol products.
    6) call and ask about the prices.

** there is a link to go to see all of the scents, you'll see it.
*** if you get the E-Z twist housing you have to ask for and buy the disks seperately.

They are out of New York, so I'm not sure that they deliver over seas for you foreigners.

They accept credit and debit cards only I beleive. They ship out same day with Fedex and UPS. I live in Ohio so they said about 2 business days. You'll have to calculate from where you live.

I will post some more when I get them to let everyone know how well they work or just check out the testimonials.

    Hope this helps some people.

I can think of three reasons off the top of my head

    1) It's $20 cheaper
    2) No assembly whatsoever
    3) It's three inches in diameter, not a five gallon bucket.

    Vaportek odor control...

Is this a stand-alone product or does it apply only to ventilation ducting already in place? I have no intake/exhaust ventilation or ducting, only a circulating fan (I cannot seal off my grow spot). I just need something to keep the smell from reeking out of my closet. Do you know if this E-Z-Twist setup will work? Much appreciated.

StAkind: to answer your question, it IS a stand alone product. You just put it in your grow area or right outside of it and viola. The E-Z twist is wall mountable. It only uses one disk at a time. There is 12 in a pack so that is at least a year. Have not used one yet, but I wil post how well it works.

Also other people have used it on here and on other thread sites, all with good reviews, as well as the fact that it is used for disaster areas to remove smells. So I'm pretty sure it will work ok...

xcrispi: That is the whole thing... They have bigger grows so they are using the v/t 4000. Those things use up to 5 disks at a time... And they deodorize like 10,000 cu. ft.!!! The E-Z twist uses only one disk at a time and is good for 2000 cu. ft... Also on the scm distibutor site it is only $30 for a 12 pack of disks not $50 like every where else.

And to answer your question I have three plants growing right now. They are not big enough to smell yet but if the E-Z twist deodorizes 2000 cu. ft. I should be fine. I'm due to get those in the mail tomorrow...

I will, however, post more about it and let people know how well it works...

But the way I figure it is, if it deodorizes decomposing bodies at murder scenes, it will do fine with my three plants...

The product you ordered is not the commercial product that they use fro crime scenes. Lets not get crazy here. What you ordered is a high powered air freshener, which should be fine for your 3 plants.

I prefer something that will move the air, and sucks up any humidity.
    To each their own.

That SCM doesn't post their prices. Not a big fan of that tactic.
Its like "what are you hiding?"

Yes, you are correct. But it is the same technology in both systems...

If you want to use something that moves air, use something that moves air. No one is twisting your arm. This is an informative thread. Just trying to let people know there are other methods of deodorizing.

Also, I already stated that you have to call to get prices... And to make purchases. Its not that hard pick up a phone. When I first called, it was to find out prices... You know what I found??? They are way cheaper. So I guess they are trying to hide something..... better prices.

Read the entire original before you post.
    Happy growing

    Vaportek odor control...

I actually just got mine in the mail about three days ago... Holy shit. They are powerful as shit. They are really strong at first... They die off after a while... My plants are not at the "stinky" stage yet, but I don't think that anything will overcome that very sterilized smell.
