It's a bucket with a lid that has a hole to hold the net pot with grow rocks. You run a couple of air stones from an aquarium to the bottom of the bucket. (have a couple on hand to switch out when the others one get cloged; you can soak them in a flushing product like flora Kleen to clean them out and reuse them again)

Fill it with about 1/2 water to start and as the roots grow down lower the water level down to 1/3 of the bucket and stop there. The roots will grow down into the water but you can't stop that so let it happen.

Monitor the Ph several times a day and have a second bucket handy to switch out to. You change the nutrients and water every 7 day's in a system like that. Keep it fresh and the proper Ph and you will be fine.

Just use good quality water and the proper nutrients in the proper portions for the plants life cycle. DL the charts from the FAQ section you will find that it will help you a lot.

Happy growing.
