FBI investigates fatal shooting near the Arizona-Mexico border

The FBI said Monday that it was investigating the death of a Mexican immigrant who was shot by a Border Patrol agent near the Arizona-Mexico border.

Francisco Javier Dominguez-Rivera, 22, of Puebla, Mexico, was killed Friday in a confrontation with the unidentified agent north of the U.S.-Mexico border between Bisbee and Douglas.

Deborah McCarley, an FBI spokeswoman in Phoenix, and Gustavo Soto, a spokesman with the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson sector, both declined on Monday to provide details of the case.

Responding to a call about a group of seven people who were crossing the desert, the agent took six of the seven people into custody without incident but then started fighting with Dominguez-Rivera. The agent, who thought his life was in danger, shot and killed the man, the Border Patrol said previously.

An autopsy of Dominguez-Rivera was scheduled for Wednesday.

The agent was put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

The shooting was condemned by Mexican President Felipe Calderon and Mexico's Foreign Relations Department.

hmm, wonder what the exact circumstances were. I have trouble trusting a news report from anywhere. In all likeleness the border patrol officer is probably in the wrong, but who knows. Only the mexican, the guard, and god.

yeah the goverment needs to take control of this situation. illeagals should NOT be allowed in this country without the proper paperwork. buildin a fence will not do shit. u can take a pair of wire cutters and make a hole easily....jeez the fucking goverment is stupid.
