i have a plant that i grew from seed. it's about 30 days old.

its growth is very slow and the oldest growth yellows out, turns brown and dies. what could be wrong with it? right now it is about 2-3 inches tall.

flurocent lights? or are you using natural light from the window? do you water it? make sure the soil is moist. If you do have a flurocent light dont put it to to close.. thats all i can say =\

i moved my light system about 8 inches from the top. it was about 2 inches from the top of the plant. maybe that will help.

Before anyone can accurately help ya on this on, we're going to need more information. What lights are you using? temps? humidity? soil? watering schedule?
If your using fluorescent you can usually let them touch with no problems, my plants routinely grew up into my fluorescents, and never burnt. If your using CFL's (compact fluorescent) then keep them at least 2 inchs away depending on air circulation.. i kept my cfls 5 - 6 inchs away.

ii dunno, myabe over watering, they are burnt, thats a nute problem and there shoudlnt be any at this point. tap water? well water? we need info if were gonna help. the soil doesnt look over watered.

Molybdenum (Mo)

Molybdenum has proteins that help the plant take nitrogen from the air.


A Molybdenum deficiency causes leaves to have a pale, fringed and scorched look, along with weird or retarded leaf growth. Yellowing of middle leaves can occur as well as twisted younger leaves which will eventually die. Molybdenum deficiencies frequently resemble a nitrogen deficiency. A Molybdenum deficiency shows older chlorotic leaves with rolled margins and stunted growth. Looks like a nitrogen deficiency but with the red tips moving inwards to the middle of the leaves. Molybendum deficiency will usually show up in the older to middle aged leaves, then it moves to the young leaves. Generally a molybdenum deficiency occurs when sulfur and phosphorus are deficient.

Molybdenum toxicity doesn’t cause to many problems, but may cause problems when the human ingests it. Excessive molybdenum in cannabis will look like iron or copper deficiency. Parts affected are by the molybdenum deficiency are: Older leaves.

Look at all of the different colors all over that young plant. Not saying that I know anything about growing, but the only color that should be present at this point should be green, if I'm not mistaken. I would say there is definately more than one problem here, but I would rule out lights for the discoloration.

Yes the lights are irrelevant to this problem.

What is your soil mix? Have you checked your pH? Is there any peat in your soil? If so, did you remember to buffer it with lime?

The purple color.... what strain is that, is it a 'black' strain? If not, do your night temps get down below 65?

Remember that there is a combination of factors that is DEADLY to cannabis:

-low pH
-cold temps
-wet soil

Those 3 things together are guaranteed disaster.

Do not add any more nutrients until you have ruled this out. It will just make the problem worse.
