Iron Maiden deserves considerably more mention, being one of the great masters of solo's.

Paschendale's solo will blow your mind. Get good and high (on whatever tickles your fancy), put on the headphones, turn up the volume, and trip balls.

Not to mention their solo's are amazing from Fear Of The Dark, Dance Of Death, Blood Brothers (LOVE that guitar style, wish I could find more of it), Number Of The Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name, and the Clansman (the live version is the real version in my opinion, I think Blaze Bailey was a terrible singer for them). I could go on and on with Maiden stuff.

Anywhoo, I'll also say there's some great solo's from:

Metallica: Fade To Black, Master of Puppets, One, and Bleeding Me. I know a lot of people hate the load era stuff, but I realized lately that a lot of people do because they don't really understand/appreciate metal's roots. I'm personally very happy that they gave us a couple Rock 'n Roll albums, I love it. Oddly enough, I find the Black Album is my least favorite and overall bores me.

Motorhead: Overkill (OMG those 3 solo's are mindblowing), Love Me Forever, Whorehouse Blues, Walk A Crooked Mile.

Slayer: Silent Scream

Pink Floyd: Goodby Blues Sky

Most live material from Jimi Hendrix. A lot of people listen to a couple albums and say "hendrix bores me, I don't see the big deal". They don't see it because Hendrix was never about his albums, his albums were just made to set a base formula for him to blow our minds in concert.
