I think it's 2 seperate issues.
I choose my smoke based on odor/flavor, and based on knowing if it is a good indica with a mellowing, relaxing effect. But I grow my own and that's a given.
On the other hand, I DO have respect for people who bother to do a bit of research and familiarize themselves with strains, and not spread the 'purple haze/ dro' misnomers any more than they already have been... knowing the effects of certain strains is important for a med user and his or her source. My friends who use ganj as an anti-anxiety med would be FUCKED if I gave them some trippy paranoid sativa, and I know that, so in that case it's really important.
