    Spotting on lower leaves?

    Setup:
    Simple Ebb & Flow
    PH ~ 6.0
Plant ~ 3.5 weeks from seed.

Spotting on the lower leaves and slowly traveling up the plant. I thought MG def at first, but now I'm not so sure. Ideas?

    Spotting on lower leaves?

Here's an interesting update (imaginary of course):

So the plant in the picture is a slow grower, in fact it's really slowed down around 1 ft. Those spots looked most like a K def, but that didn't make much sense we're only 4 weeks old and in veg. So now I find 5 pistols growing on the girl in 20 hours of light! 1. It's a girl (Ya!). 2. It seems like it's autoflowering which explains why it showed a possible K def.

It was supposed to be a Nirvana Bubblegum, but it's acting like a Lowryder. Go figure.

lol nirvana seeds are a bit of a crapshoot!
I was thinking you are looking at a lack of K and or Ca...those elements give the plants strength to fight off disease too... spots like that, necrosis, could be caused by a fungus (I'm not sure in your case). what are you using for source water? Are you adding a calcium supplement? I see the slightest hint of a Mg def but that's not causing the spots.

I think you also have minor heat stress,

    Spotting on lower leaves?

I'm using FloraNova only, so Cal may be the prob. Have to pickup some calmag+ this weekend. thanks for the suggestion. Oh, and the water is RO, it's only a 5 gal rez so it's cheap to fill.

Heat shouldn't be a problem, it's actually a little cold most of the time, say in the 60's somewhere. It could spike up from time to time, but not often. Either way, a logging thermometer is the next purchase, so we'll find out.

    Thanks for the replies.

RO water + no calmag = problems down the road.
Good for you for spotting (haha get it? spotting! ) them sooner rather than later.
That was most likely your porblem then!

My God...your plant looks exactly like mine did and my seed came from Nirvana, though it wasn't Bubblegum. Odd, eh? Well, at first I thought it was because I changed to a different soil after transplanting, but that didn't explain why the new growth began to show the same signs as the old growth, so I added some fish emulsion (a flower fert) and began to force her a little early. The spotted leaves died and were pruned but the new growth is doing wonderful and she's a girl to boot...glad I didn't give up on her, but like yours, she showed her sex early and really progressed slowly after growing one foot tall. I'm thinking it was just bad genes. Good luck with your grow. Peace!

Hey hipro, I think that fish emulsion has a lot of calcium in it... made from ground up remnants of fish... guts, heads, BONES!!!! mmmmmm Ima go make me some protein shakes in my bass-o-matic!

Here's a pic of the spotting after it has advanced. My imaginary friend Chet took several leaves like this off of his plant, but also picked up some CalMag-Plus and added it to the rez today.

    Here's to hoping :rasta:

    Chet reports good news!

With the addition of the CalMag-Plus, the horrible disease stopped spreading and the plants took off and are growing like crazy. Chet wishes he had used that stuff from the get-go, would be flowering by now if the new growth rates are anything to go by.

Well if you've ever wondered what a Calcium Def looks like, just do a hydro grow with RO water and forget the CalMag-Plus. Or don't, and just look at the pictures posted earlier in this thread.

Thanks to all and props to stinkyattic for making the call, spot on man.
