I can live for millions of years, but I am constantly changing.
When you try to grasp me, I slip through your fingers.
If you did grasp me, I would be no more.
What am I?

Fossil? would crumble in fingers

A river.

They live for millions of years.
If you try to grab a river, the water will slip through your fingers.
If you could grasp the river, the water would stop flowing and it would no longer be a river.
