Hiya Dusto - I test the run off after I feed them. Mine has been fairly stable so far because I mixed a little lime in the soil prior to planting....the one mistake I made was using Hydrated lime when I should have used Dolomite. Hydrated is stronger and faster acting and I nearly overdid it.

hmm, i tried to test my runoff of some new promix but it was brown so i couldnt really tell. But if i get up off my lazy stoned a$$, maybe i'll get something done around here. I really need to flush it with a couple of gallons of water then check

They make a dirt Ph probe that's a piece of crap but your Ph is low. Ph generally fails while salts build up in dirt (acidic). So, you should flush with alot of clean, Ph- adjusted water. At least once a month. Keep you water Ph 6.3 early and raise to 6.4 to offset late acidity. NO FLUCTUATIONS.

Well, ya got me on that one Dusto - I can't really explain why that would happen. But I'm still a noob & learning this stuff.

Here's what happened to me with a clone I have - two nights ago I fed and watered it - I tested the run-off and it was like 5!! So I mixed up another batch of plain water, added Ph-Up till it was at 8.8 or so and watered the plant again. When I retested, the run-off was 6.5 - right where I wanted it.

I dunno if that is how it's supposed to be done but that's how I'm stumbling along with it.

I PH my soil water 5.8 to 6.5 and never have any lock outs.
