i dont think thats really a reason to call it the worst thread man. i know people around here that have smoked for a long time but didnt know what the carb hole was for on my pipe. its just all in how you've smoked before coming across one. everybody's gotta start somewhere

I don't really see the point of a carb hole on a small pipe anyways. The point of a carb is to let it fill with smoke, then release it to get maximum hootage. With a small pipe the there is nowhere for smoke to actually fill up into. Most small pipes you do see have them though.
And if one does have it, yes, you have to cover up the hole or you won't get a hoot. You'll just be sucking air. Covering the carb hole allows air to go only through hole in the bowl where you pack the weed.

I actually just bought a pipe that doesnt have a carb on it. I was a little worried at first that it wouldnt work well, but it does. Actually, i like hitting it more that peiced with holes in them. I dont think they are neccesary for pipes because the chamber is so small...but whatever floats your boat i guess.

if u dont cover it while ur hittin ur piece, u'll get a bitch hit, you cover it, until u almost cant inhale anymore
than you take ur finger off of it
then u suck a little softer because it will be easy to suck all the smoke out
then u take another hit

I can't smoke out of a really really small pipe. I have to be able to see the bowl when im hitting it.
Otherwise I might be really stoned and my eyes cross and look down my nose into the bowl.
Hurts the eyes. I prefer a longer pipe with a carb. Pull it, clear it, pull it, clear it.
I don't understand how you could not have a carb? Not having one would mean that you have to pull *all* the air that goes into your lungs through the bowl. Then, when you are doing that, what happens to the cherry? Smolders big and burns all of your $pot$.
Can you keep a non-carbed pipe from smoldering or cherrying up big?
