the resin it's self is what changes the pipes color to begin with, so of course when you boil it and get the resin out, it's going to go back to the color (or just damn near it, may be a tint darker) then when it was brand new...

My friend said she tried that method once and her bowl turned a dark greenish brown color. Although she never showed me the bowl once it got discolored I'm a little cautious towards this method.
