    Computer Problems

Is your OS up to date? Has it got service pack 2 installed?

To go back to IE6 you could a quick restore, if you don't trust that then search Google or Microsoft for it.

It may even have something to do with spyware or a virus.

A good pointer for viruses is check your processes. Google any exe.s you're unsure about. I know you extensive cleaning but there is a small chance that it could be undetected.

The final thing I can think of is your computer maybe just plain awful.
Nation_1ne Reviewed by Nation_1ne on . Computer Problems Hey everybody, I was just wondering if anybody recognizes this problem, knows what's going on. So right now I'm running Internet Explorer 7. Yes, I know it's riddled with problems as I learned the hard way, but I can't find anywhere you can download the IE6. I don't know if this is related to it being number 7 though, it's pretty recent and severe. Anyway, after I've been on the web for at least 10 minutes, it freezes horribly when I try to load a new page; and I mean FREEZES. I can't Rating: 5

Ya, but just because you can't fint it/isn't infected anymore, doesn't mean shit got f-d up. If it's only affecting IE and not all browsers, then it just sounds like an issue with IE and might be a result of being infected. Could just be an IE7 thing, but you can find out by rolling back to v6.

I do know this, When I replaced windows explorer with aston and downloaded the task terminator app I could find crashed exes that task manager didnt catch. Since I started using it, I've pretty much eliminated browser crashes (cept when I a virus gets by).

Your best bet is a OS reinstall... IE 7 is so far imbedded now that even a rollback will be screwy... I don't even have an uninstall of 7 in my control panel... even if you had the beta IE7 there is probs on the uninstall,,,mS made this to remain and 6 id history... IE7 is working on 3 machins for me... I think you may have a Hijacker...

    http://cannabis-zone.com/stuff/hijackthis.exe

Download that program and run it,,,look if there is unfamiliar stuff you got running that will freeze your IE check them and fix them... freezes are usually a memory over load and that is usually a virus...

From experience a fresh install is the best though...

Every so often I come across something on the web that's not compatible with Firefox. So nuts to it, I took the easy road. I still enjoy stumble frequently.

I mean FREEZES. I can't close it in any way. I try CTRL-ALT-DEL and that just freezes too. Sometimes if I wait a long time after force-ending it through CTRL-ALT-DEL, about 5 minutes later it finally closes and ends up at a blank desktop, and all functionality is 100% gone from my computer.

I don't think it's a virus because I've done quite a bit in that field. I've run trendmicro virus and spyware scans, plus Ewido, Antivir, Norton antivirus, Norton anti-spyware, Adaware, Spybot, crapcleaner, and A-Squared. Plus I've emptied all my temporary files, all my cookies, and cleared the history just for the hell of it. I've checked all the running processes throgh Hijackthis, and done a registry edit and found nothing.
    Oxymoron

Oh yeah, and the "blank desktop" happened because explorer.exe terminated just type "explorer" in new task box And I dont think having 20 anti-virus and spyware programs installed is helping the problem of a slow computer.
