    Computer Problems

Hey everybody, I was just wondering if anybody recognizes this problem, knows what's going on.

So right now I'm running Internet Explorer 7. Yes, I know it's riddled with problems as I learned the hard way, but I can't find anywhere you can download the IE6. I don't know if this is related to it being number 7 though, it's pretty recent and severe.

Anyway, after I've been on the web for at least 10 minutes, it freezes horribly when I try to load a new page; and I mean FREEZES. I can't close it in any way. I try CTRL-ALT-DEL and that just freezes too. Sometimes if I wait a long time after force-ending it through CTRL-ALT-DEL, about 5 minutes later it finally closes and ends up at a blank desktop, and all functionality is 100% gone from my computer.

I don't think it's a virus because I've done quite a bit in that field. I've run trendmicro virus and spyware scans, plus Ewido, Antivir, Norton antivirus, Norton anti-spyware, Adaware, Spybot, crapcleaner, and A-Squared. Plus I've emptied all my temporary files, all my cookies, and cleared the history just for the hell of it. I've checked all the running processes throgh Hijackthis, and done a registry edit and found nothing.

I've also tried running chkdsk /f and chkdsk /r, plus defraged, and changed by IP address.

So I'm all out of ideas, and the problem persists. Any ideas?

well i use IE7 and i don't get that problem, but then again, software reacts diffrent from computer to computer... if IE6 worked better, and you want IE6 (firefox has it's fair share of problems as well.. like i said computer to computer... but i've heard of quite alot of people complaining they're stuck with IE cuz firefox messes up their system) then go here it should help you out:

I have firefox actually, had it for years. I just haven't used it for quite a while, guess because I'm accustomed to IE. Still, I wouldn't mind knowing what's wrong...

You prolly have a bunch of shit running in the background running amock. Maybe even might be a problem with JRE on some pages.
You can downgrade back to IE6, it's easy to do once you find the steps. I think you can do it in control pannel.
Clean your shit up and check running processes. Obviously IE runs fine right out of the box, but when it's fucked with (ususally by viruses/adware) it don't run so right. Firefox may run a bit better, but if you have crap eating up resources you've still got issues.
