    Fan leaves Problem during Flowering?

Ok, here's the lowdown: 2nd grow, soil, 3 gal pot, Fox Farm nutes, 400 hps. My fan leaves are dying. First the tips turned brown, then the edges of the leaves, now they are yellowing from the edges inward. It will soon take over the whole leaf, shrivel up and the leaves will die. Happened during first grow right during flowering and progressed till the end of flowering. None of my trichs turned brown yet but all my fan leaves shriveled up and died. Does anyone know?

P.S. I water when pot feels light and till it just comes out drain holes. I have pictures but I cannot post them because the site is experiencing technical difficulties???

How far along in flowering are you? You should be experiencing some N deficiency if you are getting near the end (last 2-3 weeks).

    Fan leaves Problem during Flowering?

I am between week 5 and 6. I hear that I should see some N deficiency but should the leaves be turning brown and crumble when squeezed?

That's what happens when they die.

Ok, I just thought they would just yellow, not turn necrotic. Do you know why all the fan leaves died on my last grow before any of the trichs turned amber? What is strange is that the plant flowered for 9 weeks, and I never saw one. Thanks for your help bud :rastasmoke:

I have pics, but for some reason they will not upload, under the 1.96 mb requirement for jpeg too.

Maybe the strain takes longer to finish. Assuming that your ph is correct, sometimes with the long flowering strains you may need to add a bit of N in the flowering stage to prevent leaves dying off before the finish.

Does not a N def. progress in the opposite manner?
    yellowing then, the tissues die?

Hard to say without a pic but that dosn't sound like a N def.

    Check your pH

Check this out, it's the best problem info i've found

Oh, thanks for the link. It looks like a combination of P and K deficiency, but they get plenty. Must be a lockout, and I do not have anything to test PH with....dammit. I will flush and wait a few days. Thanks for your help. Yeah, I was a bit skeptical about the N deficiency because it started at the top and is working it's way all over the large fan leaves.

What is a good option if you dont have a pH meter (which you need)
get some additive maybe a sugar supplement like "Sweet" by General hydroponics. IT has pH buffers in it, so when u mix it up it's always around 6.4. And you can feed it with every watering.

Also, if you have synthetic nutes they also have buffers.

I like to pH my soil. or buy soil that i know the pH of. it avoids a lot of problems. pH is HUGE i cant stress that enough
