anyone have, or know someone who has, been arrested for pot in new jersey?

i got arrested on Christmas night, smoked in car, and cop pulled me over for stupid bs, i apparently made an improper turn. smelled the pot, found the roach. i was with my bud and i took the blame, he got off. got charged with improper turn, possion of marijuana under 50 grams (its a disorderly persons offense in NJ), and being under the influence controlled dangerous substance.

the cop told me i probably won't lose my license and to "work with him" that he will try to lower it the best he can, i've never been in any real trouble, but i was arrested a year ago in NY for stupid bullshit, and got off with discharge

so im wondering if you guys have any clue what might happen/advice. i haven't told my parents and would really rather not spend money on a lawyer. do i need a lawyer? is is that serious?

a fine for several hundred, they can take the license if they want to be pricks I think also someone was telling me (from Jersey also) and maybe probation. I recently got cought also in nj, police lied to perform an illegal search on me, was pretty fucked up. Got court soon lets see how that goes

lol stoners arn't idiots, Cops think they can fuck with us and get away with it.although some cops can be pretty cool about the whole situation its the cops that freak out cuz they see a roach or a small bag of weed that pisses me off.

I would get a lawyer. While it's a light charge, it's still a charge you would rather not have on your record if possible.

Btw, if you are over 18, you are going to get solicitations in the mails regarding lawyers. Your parents will find out if you live with them. Also don't use any of the lawyers solicating you, they suck. Lawyers don't need to solicate.

i got into some trouble last 420 ALOT worse than yours (was a felony) and posession and i got a good lawyer and it got dropped to disordaly conduct (a violation (smaller then a misdomener) ) and just had to pay 95$

Yes, get a lawyer, and WORK WITH THE COP. No matter what people say if the cop is being friendly, be nice to him and respectful and almost in any instance they will help you out.
