This weekend, while skiing on the divide, I ducked into some trees to spark a bowl. I managed to find a nice sheltered spot behind a dense snag of pine. I stampped out a nice platform in the snow and settled in to get ripped...

The temp outside was 3 above 0 F and the wind was gusting to 50 mph. Occasionally a gust would dump snow off the trees into my lap and all over my stash. It sounds nasty, but with some well placed handwarmers, all was good. I smoked the entire bowl and had a chill time watching gusts carry clouds of snow up the hill.

Upon finishing, I packed up and jumped back on the slope. Normally I love geting stoned in the cold. It seems to intensify everything. This time, however I felt stone cold sober. I suppose the weather was so intense that it was like a cold shower.

Back on the hill, I had to fight the wind to even go down hill. Blasts of wind would obscure everything. White everywhere. Snow blasted into every gap in my clothes. My nose hairs froze.

I suppose, had I not been stoned, I would have gone home. Instead, I stayed out a few hours more. I never felt stoned, just chilled and facinated by the weather. Not the best day, but interesting. I'm going for a repeat performance next weekend.

Anybody else like being cold while stoned?

I like smoking in the cold sometimes....other times all I can think about is how cold I am! Watching the snow must have been trippy though.

It was most intense when skiing into a complete white-out. I couldn't even see the ground! I felt like I was flying.

I started enjoying the cold when I used to smoke outside the house as a kid. I used to stare up at the constellation Orion for hours in the winter. It seems like I feel every bit of air motion when its cold. It is like I am connecting to the planet.

Good choice of avatar btw. It is amazing how far we have strayed from our country's founding values. Back in the day all our forefathers wanted was freedom to do as they chose. Now everyone feels like their own morality should be the law that everyone else lives by.

Skiing in the rockies or northeast? I'm from the west coast but went snowboarding up in Vermont and Quebec when I was younger. Now I'm out in AZ and there is no snow (at least not enough to ride on) up in our mountains in Flagstaff. I've also been to Colorado and Mammoth in CA. So far Vermont is my favorite.

About Patrick Henry, you hit the nail on the head. Exactly why I picked him. I'm a History major, focusing on American History; I think people would be surprised if they knew our REAL past. Our history is filled with the so called people doings what's best for us taking away our rights and freedoms.

People don't think things through. If they don't want their kids looking at porn, they think there should be a law restricting access. They don't see the impact this has on our founding values. It would be analgous to saying "I am not hungry so no one else should eat." Taken to the extreme we all become robots living within a very restricted realm. Hell, it has already gotten so bad that I am scared to death that I'll get arrested when I take my kid out for a cup of coffee. Who knows what person I may offend with my "morally unacceptable behavior"? Will I get arrested? Will child services take the kid away? It has become bloated and stupid.

I am a mechanical engineer, but I really admire Jefferson. There are two creeds I live by (1) Question authority! and (2) Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. I think Jefferson followed both of these ideals.

WRT skiing, I live in Golden, CO so I have quick access to all the Colorado skiing. I didn't learn until I was 30, but I have a blast with it. It is the most amazing thing. The snow has been fantastic this year!

Couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately people haven't learned from their ancestors past mistakes and continue to try to force their beliefs upon others. I think a lot of it has to do with religion... read up on past patriots like Anne Hutchinson. Puritans, Quakers, and Catholics all learned to live together here by respecting each other (eventually, if not initially) and letting others do as they please. A core libertarian principal that I hope to see become more popular.

I bet in CO the snow has been crazy. I'm surprised you could even get out. A former coworker just moved out there and has kept in touch. He said it's been unbelievable and he's ready to move back. haha

i have never skied stoned and I really cant wait for the next opportunity. unfortunately (along with domiko) my area has no motherfucking snow this year.
