Need a little advice.
I have just started my first hydroponic grow, think it going ok so far, my plants have been in the big blocks for about 6 week's (see photo) and now using half strength canna aqua vega 1&2 , just need a bit of advice on when to start 12/12 with my hps.
Has anyone had trouble when you add the aqua vega messing with the ph, i have soft water where i live and only need to bring the ph down a fraction, when i add the aqua vega the ph is too low and cant get it up without losing alot of water and replacing it with normall water, any hints or tips would be much appreciated.
Keep it real and dont get cocky:jointsmile:

Hey Rhyw,
Plants look healthy, 2 Thumbs up !!!!!
New to growing here, and have done alot of reading. my ?'s are:
A) what is the ph of water from tap ? ( you say soft water )
B) are you lowering the ph then adding nutes?
C) what is ph after nutes added?
Regards,

Need a little advice.
A.1 My tap water belive it or not is around 6.8
A.2 I always check tap water then add nutes then check again.
A.3 With the nutes added it goes down below my ph tester limit, so below 6.
The kit i got only had Ph down, so i am assuming that you can get Ph up???
Thank you for your kind words, my last grow in soil was a total mess up, 10 seeds 2 not come through, 2 where weak looking and ended up with 6 males, these are seeds from rhino seed called ice, i always say that you pay for what you get, my first seeds cost me £20 for 10 these ice seeds cost me £40 for ten and they 100% feminised (( aparently )). i will keep you updated if you want.

I could be wrong, but I believe the problem is the soft water, because of the salt in it.
Try a res change with store bought water and see if you get the same PH fluctuations.

Yes, you can buy pH up, or you can use baking soda... But if you have soft water (sodium is used to soften it), using baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) might be ill-advised, as it might give your plants too much sodium.
Even with a pH kit that only goes to 6, you can estimate a lower pH. If you're using a Wadley Jr. kit, a pale yellow with no hint of green or orange is about 5.8. (5.5-5.9 is optimal to avoid any nute lock-out.)
I'd recommend getting a wider-range pH kit & some pH down. You could also use store-bought water, but I think the former is a better longterm solution, as long as your plants seem happy in your water.
Green thumb to ya!.................................................

: I would try the distilled water like perp said.what is the TDS or EC meter reading?I wait till they are about 10" or 12" tall then flower them.I read some where that submersible without a grounded plug cause the iron to fall out the solution relatively fast with along with high levels 0f dissolved oxygen from air stones and pumps.Thats what Botanicare says on there bottle of CAL-MAG PLUS.: Well that's mytwocents: PEACE
