PLEASE HELP 2700k too much red light for cloning?

I've been doing some reading on cloning and was hoping to take a few clones today thinking I had a 20w 6500k 2' flourecent, but it turns out it's 2700k. the only other option I have is the 400w MH bulb which I was under the impression of being too much light. I know the clones won't do their best, but can I pull off a few successful clones for now and give it a shot, or is this a bust till I have the extra cash for a new bulb, I know their cheap but right now I'm cheaper.

hey babe, for about $20 you can go to a hardware store and get a double 48" flourecent fixture and two ge daylight bulbs (6500k, 40w, 3050 lum ea.) these work wonders, and are all i use for clones; both during rooting and vegging... i keep my big guns (400w mh) for my beanie babies. your temps should be rock steady at 70f, and you can keep the light about 8-12 inches from the cuttings until they root, then drop them down right on top of them (cool bulbs don't emit enough heat to burn, so the leaves can actually touch the bulbs!)

i root in soil, how do you go?

I figured I'd keep it simple and use soil. Our whole finacial situation changed literally overnight and as it stands $20 is not in the budget. If I can't use the light I have then I'm going to have to skip cloning and flower the plants I have when the time comes and use the little profit from a close friend to pick up a light and some new seeds or clones to start again. Which in the end costs more.
The whole world revolves around money and it sucks!

too true, too true... unfortunately, i don't have any spares right now... however, i've used 3000k cfl's on clones and they all rooted, so you should be able to use yours with litte or no probs.

Thanks for the offer lol. Everything happens for a reason so if my clones work great, if not then maybe I'm not supposed to be cloning and expanding just yet. Oh since your here I FIMed afew plants today following your instructions(yours were the easiest to understand) and plan to FIM the ones I take the clones off of after I take the clones. I have a camera today too so hopefully in the net few days I'll be able to post some pic of my babies(which have kinda slowed way down due to a few things) and my set up in my thread.

    Hi Chrissy

You can use your 2700's just fine. I use 2 footers myself for my little cloning area and they are ready to plant in 10-14 days pending on strain. The good news is that you "have" a 400 mh, so you're ahead of most ppl on a budget.

I use a hydrofarm no hole tray and a six inch top.I put the tray in my veg room cover it with black plastic and fold the plastic back so as to let the 400MH get light in and to increase the heat! Cutting's love the warmth and humidity. You'll do just fine! Afterall! The kindprincess has rolled out the red carpet!Good Luck!
