    How do these work??

I was considering Peat Pots for seedlings for my next grow. Does anyone have any experience with these and are they effective? I'm not sure that I like the idea of planting them directly into the soil, but I thought they'd be easy to remove during a transplant. I had a terrible time transplanting from the clay pots I used the last time and I want to avoid that trouble during the next round. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks in advance and as always...Peace!

Please trip them gently, they don\'t like to fall, oh by jingo. There\'s no room for anger, we\'re all very small, oh by jingo. We\'re painting our faces and dressing in thoughts from the skies, paradise, oh by jingo. Won\'t someone invite them? They\'re just taller children, that\'s all, afterall. Some march together and some on their own, quite alone. Others are running, the smaller ones crawl but some sit in silence, they\'re just older children, that\'s all.

would not plant them directly in soil without removing atleast the bottom of the pot first . a cheap alternative is disposable cups with a few drain holes punched in the bottom just flex the sides a little and the plant will pop right out for transplanting.

    How do these work??

    hi hipro,

i used them in my current grow for the same reasons....see here:http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=88772

i think they are god and wil use them again...seeing as ive got a pack of about 100! lol

when the time came for transplant, i gave them a good watering so the pots became soft, and pealed the pots of, and carefully placed the lump of soil into the main pots.

one thing to watch for is not to damage the roots, if the seedling is too large, the roots will grow into the sides and botton of the pot, making removal difficult or impossible...

the method i used was to gently rip the pots off, feeling for any resistance where a root might have grown into the peat material, and carefully work around it....so making sure the pots are soggy before attempting this is important.

an example of this, is one of my roots had penetrated the bottom part ofthe pot, so although i removed the sides, i planted in the main pot withthe bottom still attached.

    How do these work??

If your gonna use any peat product, use pellets The roots of seedlings and cuttings make their way out a bit sooner versus having to penetrate the sides of the cup.I use the 8oz styrofoam coffee cups and take a pencil and run it through the cup right above the bottom, twice.Making 4 nice drain holes.Like bejay says, just give the sides a pinch and out they pop!
