    My First Grow-in-a-box.

Ok i have never grown before don’t know anyone that has grown and am not to clued up on the growing process but I think I know the basics.
I know most of you will now click 'post reply' and just tell me that I am not ready to grow yet and I couldn’t agree more, I’m not ready to grow yet but I am not the sort of person that learns best from reading, i find that first hand experience is best for me also i will understand what everyone means more if im also growing.

So i have a little plan but I need to know if it will work (plz don't flame)

Cover a 12inch high 30inch long 7inch wide box with silver foil; I am going to keep the silver foil completely flat so that I don’t get any creases causing a 'magnifying glass effect'.
Im not sure how yet but fit a 26watt CFL to the box.
I would cut of one end of the box and fit a tube connected to a fan so that the plants get a good air supply, i would also put around 50 holes in he opposite end of the box so the air can leave easy.
Put about 3 plants, all in separate pots, into the box.

Well would this work, is there any chance it would work and if not what would i have to change to make it work. i can use a slightly bigger box its just this is a stealth mission.

Also is http://www.cannabis-seeds.co.uk/ a good site to by seeds from and what would you recomend would be the best tipe of seeds for me to purchase, keep in mind there is a good chance i will mess it up so nothing to expensive.

Welcome! First off I would buy seeds from Dr.Chronic's seedbank and check out the Nirvana selection. I think they are the cheapest and that's a good thing for your first grow. Maybe even some bagseed if you can get your hands on any. Second you are going to need a lot more light. One 26watt CFL is not going to cut it. (Especially for three plants.) Then the last thing you're going to have to worry about is space. Twelve inches in height and seven inches in width is going to seriously compromise your plants. Grown properly they'll reach 12inches in a month and they'll get much wider than 7inches. Some advice that I've found helpful....check out Kindprincess's signature and there you'll find everything you need to know to grow....yup, you're going to have to do your homework eventhough you're not much of a reader. It's necessary and will save you lots of trouble in the future. Good luck, Happy Growing and Peace!
Please trip them gently, they don\'t like to fall, oh by jingo. There\'s no room for anger, we\'re all very small, oh by jingo. We\'re painting our faces and dressing in thoughts from the skies, paradise, oh by jingo. Won\'t someone invite them? They\'re just taller children, that\'s all, afterall. Some march together and some on their own, quite alone. Others are running, the smaller ones crawl but some sit in silence, they\'re just older children, that\'s all.

ty for the advise, ive just read through Zoidberg's first grow thread sand im amazed, i seem to be at the same stage as he was at the start except he has somewhere to grow lol, i do have a shed come to think of it but i dont know if my mum will let me have the shed and never look in there.

lol i now know the box isn't a good idea but would it still be possible? what would happen as the baby grows how would i be able to keep it in the box/would i be able to keep it in the box?

If you keep your babies in that box eventually they will crowd it, they will compete for light and I've noticed that whenever the leaves of my plant rub up against something for too long, it's never a good thing. (pot rims, the wall, ad etc.) If you are growing in a home that you don't own, tisk tisk...you put your mother at risk. Get her permission first so there are no surprises. Lights! You'll need a lot of cfls or you'll need to get yourself an HID. (Although with an HID you will not be able to hide the electric bill from your mom!) She'll even notice her bill rising with just a few cfls...so, tell her what you plan to do. Seems like you need to do some research but believe me...it's well worth it! Peace.

yer i know it is not a good idea growing in mothers house withought her knowing, this is one of the main factors that have put me of ever starting. i will most probably wait unitil i am living alone to grow as i will most likley mess it up the first time, if i done it im my mums house i would give her 50% of whatever i grow in money eg if i end up getting 4 ounces i would give her £240 (£120 a ounce.

looks liek this idea wont go no further than these forums then its a shame

right where do i start. the box idea i would scrap coz it would'nt be worth doing. if u have a wardrobe in ur bed room thats a good start coz u can put a lock on it so no one can get in it and as for light its easy to rig up quite a few cfl's and do a grow that way. i hate to see people wanting to grow but cant coz of complications. there are always ways round every thing just remember that. i would'nt use tin foil either u can get one of those emergency foil blankets there only about £10 and they work great the problem with tin foil no matter how flat u have it is it causes heat spots due to the intensity of the light and it will fry ur babies. i really hope u manage to do it man any way ive gave u a few suggestions i hope they help laters peace!

i'm kind of in the same predicament, i'm using large tub and a flourecent light about 100W and my parents know so its all good, but this grow is purely for research and i hope to see how far i can get by growing them under such shitty lights and in winter i mean has anyone in england seen how fucking shit our weather is its shit, so i hope the results i get can help me on my real grow in the summer which is using the same flourecent lights during night time and using good ol british summer sunlight during day, also i'm not blazing until end of GCSEs which is about june so this experiment should keep me going, its been 3 weeks since germination and its only just started to grow the 3rd set of leaves. which is pretty slow, but hopefully i should get sum alright results, lil josh, go to argos and get this

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/4308148.htm

and theres a hydro shop in fulham that sells mylar

    http://www.growell.co.uk/p/0309/Myla..._Sheeting.html

use these and i think you should be alright, this is a REALLY BUDGET approach but hopefully it should speed up growth better than relying on our shitty sun
