I dont know either. I think it's from when [well, back in the day lol] we could only get hash in europe [there was no herb around] people had to smoke the solid with tobacco or it just wouldnt burn.. and then when the herb started getting grown they used the same method, i think thats how it orginally started.

But i think people do it to conserve weed, roll bigger joints and to help it burn evenly, but now i've quit smoking tobacco i dont use it in me joints.

Either way, a well rolled joint, that has the perfect mix of tobacco and weed wont taste of tobacco at all.
