I used to deliver furniture. Hardest job of my life.
This is why they say 'we'll be there from 9a to 5p'

The company does not know where your house will be in the order of delivery until they map it out that day. You could be the first stop or the last or something in the middle.

We used to map out the farthest home first and work back in to the warehouse to drop off the truck.

And then you never know what surprises you get at each house.
May take 5 minutes or an hours (apartment, 5 floors, no elevator)

Think you're the only place they are going that day?
We averaged 15 deliveries a day, with all 15 customers asking that same question. Like somehow the traffic will cease to exist so we can get to your house at exactly 11:15 am

And the mattress guys wanted to deliver that mattress so they would not have to reload the thing AGAIN the next day. What gets on the truck gets delivered.

Guys who have to deal with ignorant customers on delivery have shit jobs.
You'd never know until YOU had to spend a summer doing it. Sucks.
