Proposed Mass. Gay Marriage Ban Advances(AP) A proposed constitutional amendment to halt gay marriage is a step closer to making the 2008 Massachusetts ballot, but the governor-elect said Wednesday that the fight to preserve the state's unique same-sex marriage rights will continue.

Lawmakers voted Tuesday to advance the proposed amendment, which would define marriage as the union between a man and woman.

The measure still needs approval in the next legislative session before it can appear on the ballot, and both supporters and opponents of gay marriage promised to step up their campaigns.

Proposed Mass. Gay Marriage Ban AdvancesWhat right does anyone have to prevent a couple from marrying? Same sex or not? Those damn sodomy laws are ever present reminders of when the "church" had it's bloodied hands all over the government. And what about those children with same sex parents? Isn't it awful that the law teaches them that their parents are wrong? Whatever your beliefs may be, oppression is oppression and oppression is a sign of a patriarchy......old men abusing what little power they have left before they die! How frustrating! Again, let's turn to Amsterdam and see that the world doesn't end just because of same sex unions! Peace! Please trip them gently, they don\'t like to fall, oh by jingo. There\'s no room for anger, we\'re all very small, oh by jingo. We\'re painting our faces and dressing in thoughts from the skies, paradise, oh by jingo. Won\'t someone invite them? They\'re just taller children, that\'s all, afterall. Some march together and some on their own, quite alone. Others are running, the smaller ones crawl but some sit in silence, they\'re just older children, that\'s all.

Proposed Mass. Gay Marriage Ban Advanceswhy does amrriage matter, its all ceremony and absolutely no substance, its truly meaningless as nothing is actually happening.
marriage is just another product of hyper reality and therefor doesnt exist.

Proposed Mass. Gay Marriage Ban Advancesmarriage has nothing to do with the government anyway...it's about two people and should end at that, it has nothing to do whatsoever with government.

but the big government communist neo-conservatives don't want that...they need to be told how it is by a dominant force.
