yeah that's basically the only way to do it easily. THC and CBNs (marijuana's active chemicals) are FAT-soluable, so you can't just eat a bud and chase it with some water. heating up some butter (not margerine... there's no fat in it) and adding the weed, heating together for about 10 - 30 minutes, the THC and CBNs will dilute into the fatty butter. strain the green from the butter and refridgerate to harden. then add the butter to whatever you want to add it to and enjoy.

by the way, eating is a differant type of high, and it's less efficient (you get less THC and CBNs out of eating than you would smoking the same amount of bud). that doesn't mean it's worse of a high, just that you need more weed for cooking than you typically would for smoking.
