Leaning more towards the Vortex, 449cfm @ 2600rpm 49dBA
The other fans spin @ 3200rpm's or better. I would think the lower rpm wouldnt be as loud.
My whaling new EcoPlus fan has got to go. I do not want another loud ass fan.
I'm going to install a rotary adj light dimmer box inline on the cord if that matters.
Any thoughts ideas or suggestions more than welcome.
All these fans are in the $175 range.
Thanks for your help. :rasta:DrGreenBean Reviewed by DrGreenBean on . Have the Vortex you are talking about, is pretty good on noise actually. You may not need to get a new fan if you haven't already tried out a few things to reduce noise with your current fan.
Not sure what your grow space is like, but if you can line the wall next to the fan with a blanket, they absorb a shit load of noise.
Another thing that cuts down noise from the fan is insulated ducting. I personally don't have insulated ducting but it's on my to do list.

I love Vortex but I haven't tried CAN. The speed controller is a good idea....my 400w cooltube doesnt need half what the 6" Votex can do.

i have 2-6in. hurricanes that are 630 cfm. not sure of rpm but right at 50 decibles cooling some 1000's inline . and have a 6 in. 449 cfm vortex pulling thru my carbon scrubber . the vortex is quieter than the hurricanes but are also moving alot less air . both have sweet 5yr. warranty and about the same price .

I think I am going with the vortex fan.
I'm going to sell my eco crap fan. It really pisses me off.
Thanks for the tips on sound proofing the room.
I run a 6" though a 1k cool tube. I'd say truthfully the cool tube works so well 150 cfm is ok, I just want a big fan to run at a 1/4 or so speed.
Thanks for your help.
