actually like i said, i didn't really get jack shit.. i got 100 bucks from my wife (which is for all practical purposes, my own money, i just got to 'waste' it on whatever i felt like with no reprecussions) and 25 bucks from my grandma.. so it wouldn't bother me quite so much...

One of the hostess gifts I got for a Christmas cocktail party we hosted was a little set of two small crystal bud vases and two little wire stands. Bud vases like for a single flower bud, only they look like test tubes in a stand. Not my style, either the shape of the vases/stands or the minimalist idea of displaying only a single flower of some kind.

I'm pretty sure it was re-gifted on me. My opinion is that giving decorative items, even small ones, for Christmas gifts is a mistake unless you know a person and his/her taste very well.
