John Lennon was having problems with his first wife during this album, nobody knew about his first wife to keep the band seem like they were bachelors or whatever. I think the problems in his life reflect the lyrics.
When he started to grow up and got out of being a pop image, I think his lyrics def. reflected the problems in his life. That's why I like him the most out of them all. When he went on his own he was making music for a cause, not for an image.

From what I've read, the guy suffered from depression most of his life. Poor guy. That's rough to deal with as modern medicine wasn't really around to help him out.
