Telling parents you smoke?

Through my teen years in high school I always hid the fact that I smoked pot from them. they know im a hardworking student and worker and I really doubt they would care that I smoked. I think Im going to go ahead and tell them. How have your parents reacted when you told them?And if you havent told them do you think they would react bad?

the biggest problem is its illegal. you can disprove all kinds of propaganda and such but its still illegal. have parents who dont care, piece of cake.

I spent a few months toking daily, and then noticed that it was affecting my breathing as I am heavily into weight lifting and running this wasn't a good thing. So I quit, that among things with friends went down and whatnot.

3 months went by with me not toking and I told my mom about everything that happened and why it happened and why i stopped and that if an opportunity presented itself in the future I might start again but be cautious and not smoke so much and possibly use a cleaner method(such as vaporizing, I do this now and have no side effects with harder breathing or anything.

So it had been 4 months and I went to a party and some friends brought some mids and I decided to toke, and from there on out I still toke sometimes in my room, but it isn't an everyday thing for and doesn't come before writing a paper or hanging with friends who don't smoke or anything important.

I am sure my mom knows I smoke as around 4 am there are times i head into the kitchen and concoct all types of weird shit. And she knows my dealer, and knows he used to be my dealer, and there have been a few times where I would leave and tell her I was going to hang out with him.

In any case all is well on my home front, and I still do what I want when I want.

nah i was pretty much ocd about it. to much anxiety, not a chance they know ..im talking ocd to the point where i was conscious about how how often I would go out so I wouldnt raise any suscipions of leaving at "weird times", making sure I smell completly fresh :rasta:..yeh ..

i dont know man my parents know and shit, they've known for about a year or so but they're not ok with it in the sense that they give me their blessing on it; they laugh about it and tell me i need to be clean for my summer jobs drug test.

it's an awkward topic though i just dont really like talking about it with them because no matter what i could say they don't relate to my point of view because neither have tried it or will try it. they both strongly agree it needs to be legal medically but for recreation they are iffy. i dont really care though, they hear my lighter and they hear me clear my bong when i smoke in my room. we dont talk about it and they really don't act like it upsets them because after this long i do not think it does anymore.

if you say they don't know and are pretty sure of it, don't bother telling them. it sounds good now but it could backfire, or kinda half backfire and just turn into a strange and awkward situation like mine that you werent expecting and is hard to get out of

I never told my parents, they just found out. I have a wicked family though and cannabis has always been accepted as a safe thing to do, regardless of it being illegal or not. It can be illegal, but if you use it in a smart manner, you won't get busted.

I remeber when my dad found out though. I was watching SNL one night, and one my fav. things i used to do was get mega fried, and laugh my ass off at the TV. Well, I fell asleep on the couch and I left my pipe on the table. My dad came down in the morning, saw me laying there, and saw the pipe. A few hours later he says to me, "I know what that was on the table this morning. I can't give you shit for something I used to do, but if I ever catch you smoking crack, I'll kick your ass" and that was that. They were always cool about it.

Every so often when I phone them they'll make a small crack about my weed smoking, in a fun way.

My mom caught me reeking of it one day, long story as to why I didn't successfully get the smell off.

She said she wanted to talk about it later, but dropped it. Since then it's been a subject we don't touch but I'm sure she knows about it, she's made a couple references such as:

"Don't drive under the influence"
"Mom I'm not drinking there"
"I mean under the influence of anything"

That and a few days ago I was talkin about a prank me and my friend pulled, she put some catnip she was taking to her cat in a baggie and tied it up like weed, to scare her mom. Randomly, my mom starts going ON AND ON about how she doesn't thing it's that bad or anything... not wanting to talk about it, I just say "What does that have to do with catnip?"

I'm against telling parents unless they either do it themselves or did it and don't think it's bad, so just be careful.

my dad smokes but i still hide it from him because i just find it too awkward..
