question about light patterns

For lowryder is it okay to do 24/0 some days and 20/4 other days. Same goes for pre-flowering: when it is vegetating is it okay to switch from 18/6 and 24/0 some days? The reason i ask is b/c i want as much light as possible but do respect the growth done during dark periods. Can i mix and match and still get healthy babies?

I would leave them on a 18/6 or 16/8 regimin,while vegging and 12/12,but no lower than 10/14 while flowering.

BUT HE'S TALKING ABOUT LOWRYDER ( SRY CAPS ). i think mate with lowryder u'd be as well just going with the 18/6 the recommend. i have never grown LR so i can't really tell u much about it but what i do know growing normal plant is that they grow better under 18/6 than 20/4 or 24/0

^^ i would use 18/6 unless they start to stretch then i would change to 24/o but i have found that my plants grow better at 20/4

any advice on how harsh it is to change the lighting schedule every week? like 24/0 first week, 18/6 second, 24/0 third, etc... again this would be for LR.
(doesn't seem like it would cause a problem, but any theories?)

i say this depends on your light situation, if your using CFL i would go 24/0 the whole way so you can get as much as possible, if your using HID lighting i would do 18/6 until they showed sex then go 20/4 the rest of the way.

i'm working with CFLs, which is why i really wanted to get as much light on them as possible, ie 24/0 ..

LR is autmoatic flowering correct?

I personally would start the light at 24-0 and slowly reduce it to 18-0 ove the duration of the flwering period...

Increasing and reducing and then increasing the lighting period should theoretically not affect the plants automatic flowering cycle... but it sounds risky.. if you do switch it around. please tell us how it works out..

ok i wanna add 1 final note to this thread by asking u a small question..... why do u wanna change ur light cycles like that and what do u hope gain from doing this??? my personal view would be that if u go with the 18/6, then 20/4 and finally 24/0 , that at the end of it any changes u notice will be very few indeed if any. flowers are produced during the dark period as the plant releases a hormone to promote flowering. i am not a lover of a 24/0 light cycle as i think it stresses a plant more than anything else. by keeping the to what other LR growers do u will get the most from ur plants . also with the 24/0 light cycle at the end of flowering are u going to have produced enuff extra bud to cover ur costs for electric baring in mind that LR is a very small producer with reports of amounts as low as a quarter per plant.

you actually don't save much like that anyway...The electric cost doesn't come from running the lights as much as turning them on/off and causing spikes. But GK hit the nail on the head. Lowryder is autoflower, and you need some dark epriod. I have seen both. I have friends at as medsite that specializes in lowryder crosses for it med patients. some have claimed that; for lowryder strains only!!!; You can run 24/0 or 20/4 or 18/6,
You could damage your yield considerably by alternating photoperiods...doesn't make any sense! peace
