Anyway the origin of the Freemasons-back in the day- Geez it was in Roman times from what I can piece together- They were an educated bunch of dudes who knew the secret to the keystone style of arch-building, which as you all (well most of you) may know is the strongest type of arch, and that which allowed later architecture (ARCHitecture...hmm! VY important!) to develop much larger and stronger indoor spaces which were less prone to collapse than previous types of structures such as those built by the Greeks. Now, Rome was sacked by tribal peoples fro mNorthern Europe, throwing the continent largely into chaos and obviously survival, rather than scholarship and the erection of buildings and monuments, became the main focus... the secrets of the keystone may have been lost, except that the secret Masonic society formed to protect it, among other important pieces of knowledge. Now I certainly hope that I am not giving masons credit for the activities of other secret societies, but another function of these fraternal organizations has been to protect scientific writings and knowledge from destruction ot the hands of religious persecutors as the Catholic church has been at times in history... and some may argue is still the case today. I won't disagree. Anyway I wish that people would stop posting such ignorant fucking homophobic nonsense. I thought that on the spirituality board we were supposed to be RESPECTFUL? Asking too much I see...

I'm always serious when it comes to making fun of others' beliefs, race, sexual orientations, etc etc
Perhaps you should lighten up a bit... seems you've been on the butt end of my lectures a bit lately, eh?

Well that's fine but I'm certainly not about to be drawn into a pissing match.

I find the Masons and the related secret fraternities absolutely fascinating.

    me too,
what event do you think is A freemason's greatest achievement?

conquering america, and being the sole effort behind the American Revolution is pretty crazy... but i think their could be a more complex understanding of it, which was obviously meant to be kept hidden

I think sometimes the best hiding place really IS in plain sight.
The preservation of knowledge and [unpopular?] political beliefs in times of social upheaval is sort of the burden of those who choose to be educated... despite whatever consequences may arise... in some ways the people who work to preserve the methods of growing and using cannabis for medical purposes are charged with a similar responsibility, that is; to protect that information from obscurity, no matter what current governments around the world may be doing to destroy it...
Preservation of knowledge and history is the greatest achievement of Mankind, period- despite the fact that we aren't all that good at it sometimes!
