How does one become a freemason? They have always intrigued me, and I know nothing about them, lol!

To be one, ask one.
Please trip them gently, they don\'t like to fall, oh by jingo. There\'s no room for anger, we\'re all very small, oh by jingo. We\'re painting our faces and dressing in thoughts from the skies, paradise, oh by jingo. Won\'t someone invite them? They\'re just taller children, that\'s all, afterall. Some march together and some on their own, quite alone. Others are running, the smaller ones crawl but some sit in silence, they\'re just older children, that\'s all.

i have a vague knowledge of masons, but my only question is: why?
not in a negative way or anything, i just don't understant what the group has to offer. from what i've heard/read, it seems like a very secretive social organization that does various "things" that no one seems to know about (lol), and has somewhat of a connection with the occult (although this is not universal, and i understand that freemasonry isnt a religion).
could someone give me more info?

Freemason's are a group of MEN who share like beliefs in life, family, we do not talk about religion or politics. If you are a positive like minded male above the age of 18, you may ask a local lodge for a petition then the other brothers will vote on it. then you will be asked to let a few brothers into your home to meet with you and see if free masonry is something you would like to be a part of.

whats with the shit ive heard about Aleister Crowley talking to the freemasons because he supposedly had something in the book of lies that seemed identical to mason beliefs?
and what exactly are the "ideas" that you share about family, life, etc.
