    Weed allergies, how to tell?

I have recently been smoking a lot. About 2 years ago i started smoking, and was fine with it, only smoking once a month or so. Now i just started to smoke every day. I recently got to the point were every single high, (the past 5) have become extremely trippy. To put it in one way, it was more intense then when i did shrooms. Last week i noticed a break out on my face, i thought it was posion ivy. I have been handling weed, but havent broken out from touching it. I am going to try the rub test on my arm, but i doubt i will breakout. I am just wondering if the rash on my face was actually an allergic reaction.

What does it mean to be a one-hit wonder? Are there people out there who can take one hit, and get trippy from it, but not be allergic?

Im just wondering if im really allergic, cause it doesnt seem to have after effects. My throat feels fine, i can breathe fine, and feel pretty much normal, i just experience extremely overwhelmingly trippy highs.

something else that should be noted: The effects last up to 5-6 hours, towards the end, or as i am coming down i become less disoriented and become anxious. All 5 experiences led to staying up till 7am because i couldnt sleep, mostly relating to anxiety. I was pretty much scared, i would think ghost, and then have to turn on the tv cause it would make me so nervous.

From what I've read on these forums it seems that you may have smoked some sativa strain.

It appears that sativa strains create an "up" or "trippy" high, whereas indica strains create an "narcotic" or "lethargic" type high. Perhaps its simply a strain difference that your body/brain doesnt necessarily like?

But then again you may have developed an allergy (since nothing is impossible and people can be allergic to things such as water or sunlight).

    my condolences dude.

one of my friends tells the story of discovering how their friend alex the vegan was allergic to weed.... he didn't have hives, but he couldn't talk and was like half paralyzed, he crawled under a table and couldn't move to get out. they picked him up and laid him on the couch to get him off the floor, he was totally vacant. this kid is huge on animal rights, and the couch of course was leather. someone leaned in and told him..alex....you're on a leather couch. and a single tear fell down the kids face. then when they brushed it off he finally said the only thing he spoke the whole night, and croaks out in the most pathetic voice 'why'd you do that---it felt good' hahaha hearing that story always cracks me up, it's hard to type out and have it come out right but still. hahaa. i dunno if that counts as allergies, but after that experience he thinks he's allergic.

sucks about your allergies dude. hives is a pretty clear reaction!

Or maybe you're setting yourself up! You could be creating a "Placebo Effect".

You set it up in your mind (subconsciously) that if you smoke, you will get an allergic reaction, and thus the body creates the reaction.

If you really are allergic it will be hard to distinguish between real allergy, and placebo effect. But then again, lick some marijuana. If your body reacts then maybe its real (people with peanut allergies cant even go near peanuts, so test yourself out using that concept.....touch it for long periods of time, lick it, eat a very very small amount of it....if you react the same way each time, then its probably an allergy).

I knew a guy in college who was allergic like that and broke out in hives. He mouth would also swell. I always thought it was partially because of nervousness on his part, too, but it happened even when he wasn't nervous. He finally gave up on smoking.

I had eye allergies, runny nose, and itchy throat and ears when I smoked, but a couple of antihistamines would keep that under control so it wasn't a problem.
