Edwards Joins 2008 US Presidential Race

Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards is the latest Democrat to formally announce he is running for president in 2008. VOA National correspondent Jim Malone has details from Washington.

Edwards made his official announcement in New Orleans, which is still struggling to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina more than a year ago.

"If we actually want to change this country, and if we want to move America the way it needs to move, we are going to have to do it. All of us together," he said.

JE want amnisty program and can even use the word prefix IL as in Illegal

I support policies that welcome immigrants and protect our security, including an earned legalization program for those who work hard and play by the rules.

So Mr. great mind, what is your solution to the 12+million illegals, round them up and put them in concentration camps? I am in agreement that they should all go back to Mexico and points south, but how do you accomplish this. Carpenters wages for example in Nevada (housing industry) are 10-12 dollars an hour now compared to in the '70's when they were 19-22 bucks an hour + benefits. How do we justify that. Houses that were selling for 35,000 in the '70's are now going for 300,000. The homebuilders have created this dillema, and are reaping the outrageous profits while High school dropouts that used to go into construction are now saying "Fuck It" and turning to speed! Justify this if you can and tell me where to put the illegals. I don't know if OBama and Edwards have all the answers, But they sure couldn't be worse than the current Administration!
Amendment IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

They couldnt be worse than Gdub.....

The dems have no answers.........let me tell you.

    Here it is... so easy

You dont need to pu the hard working mexican in concentration camps...

you need to put the CEOs of the corperation in Jail, that hire Illegals....

    Try this....

The first time your company is caught with illeagals its a "WARNING"

    second time..... 50k fine

3rd time THE CEO OF THE COMPANY DOES 90 DAYS....the CEO

    its called self deportation

when they cant get a Job they will leave.... so easy

    Repeal the 14th amendment

shot to kill orders on the sothern border of the USA like it is on the southern boarder of mexico. Fuck the fence, .223 rounds will do

Police that catch illeagals with false docs...must be deported (no amnisty)

Then make it easier for LEGAL immagrints to come in........

    So fucking easy.............

Well I suppose that is one approach, actually I favor the employer sanctions, the harsher the better, for after all it is them that are reaping the tremendous profits from the pitiful wages payed the illegals. They say the cost of everything will go up. Only because the greedy employers wouldn't cut their profits. I can see a little bump in retail, but the greedy owners are and have always been the cause of all the immigration problems. The problem with your plan is how to get it started and then how to enforce it. I'm even for the border plan. It is an absolute neccessity to seal the southern border, this country cannot sustain the onslaught of illegals that has been occuring over the last 5-10 years. The amnesty thing is a farce. For every illegal you allow to stay, 10 will be allowed to come in from mexico on family or hardship visas and then will be turned into citizens as well, now your talking 120 million low payed workers. where are all the Americans with 800-2500 dollar a month mortgage payments supposed to find work? So then you'll have a foreclosure rate of magnanimous proportions and the banks will fail. The ramifications of amnesty are beyond common sense and are disastrous for our Country! "A concerned citizen"

I like all of it except the "born here" clause. That doesn't address the fact that their parent was here illegally, if in fact they were, in which case I can see a lawsuit being waged in favor of removing that priveledge from the newborns! Just because their parents came here illegaly to spawn, should not grant one citizenship. Yes I feel for them, but they need to go and make their own country a better place, I think we had to shed a lot of blood to be where we are, and democracy is not easy. We're on the verge of losing our own at this very time!
