I am fully aware of the fact that people have little things in their life that they complain about. If he had said something like this really bugs me but to title the post WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN TO ME...is slightly emo don't you think and for the complaint to be on Christmas day when so many people aren't with their family? Who DOESN'T have a relative that drives them nuts (that might actually make an interesting thread)Yet I'd think for this ONE DAY a year he could chill out AND DEAL WITH IT.

Yo ok. I am at my grandparents for Christmas dinner. But before I went, I picked up some real good weed. Well, I drove out there with my car because I was planning on just staying there for only a couple hours so I could go and smoke my weed. I am not that much into family get togethers. My stepdad eats with his mouth open and its annoying as hell. And then he decides to sit next to me at the dinner table. Now dude, I love him because he's like my dad but still it just annoys me so much. So I went downstairs to take a nap to get away from the madness that was building.

Here where things get fucking shitty. I wake up and I decide to go home. My parents are still there. Well, my stepdad decided to want to ride home with me. I'm like "what the fuck??!!". That just blew my plans for smoking away. I sucked it up and had to make some changes. My dad was at my stepbrothers' house eating but I didn't want to go over there. So I was stuck so I said I was going to go to my dads anyway and I ran in the house to get my weed and lighter and pipe. I was going for a smoke ride! But I had so much time to kill. I ended up driving for like an hour or 2 just bumming. I had to get gas.

Secondly, yes my son joined, so what. He had 2 friends die in the war. He was working as a surgery technologist and against all advice from me he wanted to help. I wanting him to continue school. I wanted him to go on to medical school but like many Americans he felt helpless and needed to feel he was doing something. Unlike so many spoiled rotten lazy whining little brats that can't seem to find anything contructive to do but bitch about what daddy didn't buy them and how much they hate their moms.

Would you prefer it if he had been drafted? You are damn lucky there are young people out there with strong moral character enough to join. Imagine what this country would look like if during WW1 or WW2 no one had joined. You probably would not be here today. Also the reasons so many young people joined is because they were made to believe their country needed protecting. They were lied to and many of them see that now.

that said there are no JUST doctors. What the hell does that mean Just a doctor in a war zone?! I honestly don't know what to say to a comment that is so out of touch with reality.

this is a part that kills me, and shows me you just read things once and let the diarrhea flow from your mouth. i was just trying to clarify whether he was enlisted in a us government organization like the army. or if he was just some doctor in a war zone, because you didn't state anything that could inform anyone what the hell you were talking about.

I'm pretty fucking glad i have enough "moral fiber" to stand up for what I believe in. What is war? War is a concept. An ideological reference to a series of events and motivations.

The physical representation of war? People who want to fight or who do fight or who are fighting.

Guess what soldiers are part of. War.

(I don't think all soldiers are bad, I know several people who have done tours in Iraq and all of them say stuff like "This isn't what we came here for anymore".) I would probably liken "The war on terror" to our "confrontation" with Vietnam.

so i don't like soldiers because of their "lets grab a gun and kill somebody" attitude. I've seen it over and over again in my former friends and people my age. people who enlist are

SwirlyMass, your insults above would have caused this thread to be deleted from the other area of the forum, and frankly to an objective reader, you seem to have come into this disucssion with a chip on your shoulder. BlueCat didn't complain about anything when she initially posted. She was simply putting GS's whining complaints into perspective. You're the one who actually switched the topic to politics. My impression is that you need to watch your step, and if you feel so deeply offended by the war, you probably need to start threads here in politics rather than coming in and setting off the cycle that ends with flaming people who respond in reasonable fashion to other topics.
