Back in the good ol?? days when that big desert on the other side of the world was only being a nuisance to oil companies, and the only direct drama it caused involved the bank accounts of wealthy, American merchants and the price inflation of gasoline to run our automobiles. Fifteen years down the road, who would??ve seen it coming?
Well, at least Frank Herbert saw it coming. He wrote Dune in 1969.

I can only hope that our descendants will be thinking better along those lines when the time comes for them to rule the world, then maybe the human race will actually achieve something REAL.
No kiddin'...What ever happened to achievement? The first half of the last century was amazing. In my grandmother's lifetime the World went from Kittyhawk to the Moon. So where's my damn flying car The Jetsons promised me?! Where's 2001:A Space Odessy? When was the last time they actually cured something? What do we have to show for the last 40 years? --the Internet and cell phones? better looking video games and more channels on television? --That's it?! Why are we still even burning oil? We split the friggin' atom in the '40s' for cryin' out loud! We've had quantum physics since the very early 1900s! We should be phasing to work and meeting Biff and Muffy for sushi in a parallel Universe!......We.,I..ooohh, that makes me sooo angry.
