"Propaganda is a systematic propagation of a doctrine, ideology, or idea of value to the speaker. I think the key word in that definition is "systematic." Merely stating an ideology or doctrine does not constitute propaganda. The ideology or doctrine must be spread through a system of communication events with the long-term goal of getting the audience to adopt a new way of thinking."

I like that discription of propaganda better then yours.

Giles County, VA -- One Virginian activist, Niklan Jones-Lezama, is believed dead and another, Sue Daniels, is missing.

On Saturday, Niklan's body was found by a search party of friends within a few hundred yards of Sue's cabin outside of Blacksburg. This past Thursday, Sue's cabin had been burned to the ground in an apparent act of arson. Sue and Niklan's two cars were found parked outside the charred remains of the building. The badly burned remains of what is believed to be a dog were found inside.

Both Nik and Sue were active around varous social justice issues, such as opposing war in the Middle East, oppression in Central America, and violent mountaintop removal in Appalachia. The two were in their forties and spent several months in federal prison last year due to their participation in the annual School of the Americas protests in Georgia. These annual SOA protests coincidentally occurred this past weekend. The last time people report seeing Niklan was when he was due to leave to attend the protests 5 a.m. on Thursday.

OMG! Do you think the missing one may be the killer? Wow, professional protesters are some strange people, are they not? Maybe the government had them killed! It's a conspiracy I tell ya. They were a threat of some sort to the governemt, so they got the axe. Or wait, maybe the girl killed the guy because he changed his mind and wanted to support the war? No, wait, is that place close to where Jason hangs out? Did any one hear dueling banjos close by? I hope you will keep me informed on this. I would really like to know what actualy happened.

Whether the numbers are big or small, it's still a pleasant reassurance that there are even protests going on. The fact they are suppressed within the media almost surprises me.

That indeed was the reason for the thread, no media coverage to bolster the ranks of demonstrations. I was, quite frankly, surprised that anyone here at a site of oppression would denegrade those actions or fact they are not being reported. But, the more I spread facts, the more surprises I find.
