HPS is the "tried & true" light of choice. It works. Very, very well. It's only downside: HEAT. If you have $$, and great ventilation, by all means go HPS. If you have even more money, use conversion bulbs and do MH daylight bulb veg & HPS bulb bud.

CFT is the newcomer on the scene, and has only been available in the appropriate spectra and wattages over the past 2 years or so. I've seen more and more people switch to CFTs for small, enclosed spaces, and for their veg rooms. Many people are now starting to bud w/CFTs. Yields under CFT are less than yields under HPS, but still quite respectable.

CFTs become counterproductive when they're more than a foot from your plant.
Volker, is this from personal experience? No matter where the info was derirved, thanks for bringing up the impact on CFT's, I'd like to know more. CFT information has seemingly been ignored since CFLs were introduced, B
