god is love (from what ive heard). but love is an idea, not a physical thing. so, neither is god. if love is something that exists only in your head, then god is only in your head.

please share your thoughts on this idea

ive always considered god to be just a personification of energy, it makes sense. god appeared as burning bush before moses, god and/or angels appeared as a blinding light, gave us life (the energy your body produces),
e=mc2 (energy is converted to matter, thus god created us)
and so on and so forth, so basically it all boils down to a worship of energy.
just my thoughts, but i believe that there is no invisible man in the sky that protects people that believe in it from evil.

Then why not call this god "existence", and seek to understand it's true nature? Unless there is a conscious diety behind the workings of the universe, I would say we're not speaking of any god, just the natural processes of the universe. Personally I think the closest thing to god is a "god-consciousness", a pure and enlightened state, perhapse one of great or infinite understanding.

First, Love is not a mere idea, it is a very real spirit. It's not man made, it is born into our psychi, our hearts, souls, and our minds. Animals Love, infants Love, children Love, etc. It is a spirit just like jealousy, and anger, and pride, and bitterness. They are all supernatural forces we all deal with at one time or another, and they are very real.


If God is Love, and I believe he/she/it is, then [it] can make these other not so positive forces go away, or at least decline if embraced. You know Love exists, [Right?] and that it not just something 'mankind' made up, which means if God is Love then his existance can't be denied, either. You can't see Love, but you know what Love is, and what it entails, and you know when others show Love, need Love, and even when they embrace it fully. That is where faith comes in for many believers. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Those who have faith in Love [God] understand this definition fully.

But if you insist that Love is a mere idea made up by man, then I won't try to change your mind. Just remember that Love extends over into the animal kingdom as well, and something every man, woman, and child can grasp. Life w/o it is like a hell, and a life full of it is like heaven...

I've always felt that Love was a choice. Any man is capable of Loving others if they so choose to embrace it. Sure, it's hard for some, but if you recieve it, you feel it somehow. They say it's better to give than receive, but I don't know that that's always true.

I see what you're saying, and Love [is] in the mind, but also in the heart and soul, and I think it exists outside of our selves as well. You cannot see its form, but you can see it being materialized in both humans and animals through their actions, and even voice. This is the subtance of God, and what I put my faith, and trust in. I know Love is real, and that it exists, [I see it everyday] therefore I know God exsists, also.

Of course, I've always believed in God; I just viewed him in a diferent light for most my life. At one time, he was mean S.O.B. if you get my drift. If the Bible didn't directly say that God is Love, I think I'd be torn like many others are.

How do you feel about spirituality? Religion [tainted] can cause a great deal of negative things in ones self, but spirituality seems so pure in applicaton. I sometimes wonder if Jesus ever encountered the eastern philosophies before his recorded life? His teachings seem to be in line with much of the Buddhist thought, imo.

i believe that if jesus was indeed real, he was a buddhist, and that he may have obtained nirvana.
of course the church wouldnt include this in their bible because it would turn more people towards buddhism than christianity
