    im.......i cant believe.......im doing this

i smoked for a whole year and decided to stop and went cold turky, didnt have a single craving since.. but i have smoked a few cigs here and there, only because i either one had sex, smoke HELLA bud and just felt like having a cig for good ol times... i went from a pack a day, to like a cig a month.. if that
i love how i have an addictive personality, but i was never addicted to cigs.

Mrdevious is throwing out some good knowledge. If you have any friends that smoke, see if you can convince any of them to quit with you. Then you form a "support group" where you help each other to quit from planning activities to help get through some of the moments of weakness to being able to call someone up and say "Hey I'm craving a cig" in order to have them tell you that you don't need it..

i went from 20 a day to 5 a day and im 4 days in
try doing things in its place
my friend suggested i chew toothpicks..it works kinda
i notice its more of the activity of moving your arm..having it in your hand..sucking in and blowing out rather than a hardcore chemical craving..
its an activity..i quit drinking alcohol 3 and half months ago and i did that like it was cake..cigs seem more difficult to me..and i was drinking just under a liter of 80 proof each day..
ease out and find other healthy or potentially non-harmful activities to take up the time that would be spent chaining..

    its hard lol

OK, I'm a former heavy smoker, started at 14 or 15, can't remember. Smoked 3 packs a day at 18. Quit the first time in 1991 for most of the summer. Was in college. Went to a party, smoked one cigarette. Was a smoker again.

I quit again the next spring, and that was it for like 12 years till I was in a gnarly programming gig and I thought I was going to have to divorce my wife, so I smoked again for a bit. Then I quit. I ate a lot of sunflower seeds, the ones with the shells.

But hell, now I chew once a day, except at work, when I chew more, but I can feel that wanting to leave my body too, as I could keep em in all day before and now they just get gross really soon, like way too soon, and when smoking was taking it's leave of me it felt the same way...

Just believe you can do it and you can do it. Nicotine is a water soluble molecule meaning it will pass from your body within a few days and after that it's all just a mind game, no more real cravings.

It is doable, you're not the only one that has done this.

Good luck, the internet is way better than cigs anyway.

To comment further, I have used the Commit lozenges in the past and those things are just minty enough to not spit out b/c they taste like minty shit, but they give you that sweet nicotine that you are craving, but creating this weird negative association with it at the same time. I used the lower dosed ones 2mg, and I couldn't finish the box, they were so nasty. Didn't chew for like a year, till my job started to totally suck (bad boss, long shifts, bad assignments and so on)...

    Mr. Devious has solid advice

DO NOT underestimate Nicotine and its ability to fuck with your mind.

I tried to quit twice (LOL how can you quit twice?) and failed because the bottom line was I wasn't prepared. I am usually very strong willed but quitting fags tested me.

If you want another good reason to quit - learn more about Tobacco companies and what they do. The practices of the industry are enough to make anyone sick. If you want to support that (right up until it kills you) then those fat fucks are laughing all the way to the bank.
Minds are like parachutes, they both work best when open.

Save cigarette butts from say, a week or so. Put them in a jar. Put water in the jar. Stick it under your sink. Whenever you get a craving for cigs, open up that jar and take a hefty whiff of it. You won't want to smoke.
