I just bought some legal herbal blends from my local headshop today. First time trying them and I'm not expecting anything spectacular, but it was worth the just under $15 to indulge some curiosity.

Anywhoo, when I bought it today the guy at the shop was saying that some other frequent customer of his managed to quit smoking, and he attributed it to the herbal blends. So perhapse smoking that stuff instead would be a good alternative while you're quitting. I got the "buddha's blend", so I'll tell you later today how it is.

other than that, here's a few suggestions:

1. Don't tell yourself or anybody else "I quit smoking". You have to commit to the ideology of "I don't smoke anymore"

2. Remember when a craving hits that it's not permanent, and remind yourself of that. You don't have to resist, you just have to resist for 20 minutes or so (or however long it takes for the worst to pass).

3. You may go cold turkey, or you may get help from meds and patches and the such. but whatever you do, don't do what my stupid friend has been doing. Every so often he just arbitrarily decides to quit smoking, and doesn't buy any patches or anything, instead he "weens himself off" by smoking just 2-3 cigs a day. I've watched him fail with this over and over and over, and he refused to do another method. Don't fool yourself into believing that a few cigs is "weening yourself off" because it just keeps reinforcing the mental state to keep smoking. If you really have to indulge, use a vaporizer, take a patch, even smoke some shisha in a hooka (has about 1/3 nicotine of cigs). JUST DON'T SMOKE CIGARETTES. and remember that the worst of the withdrawl (is supposed to be) 18 days.

4. The smokes aren't your friend that you have to say no to. THEY ARE YOUR ENEMY. You hate them, you are disgusted by them, and don't let your brain bullshit you otherwise.

You have my compliments for quitting Masta. Tobacco is one of the worst drugs out there, if only because of the incredible addiction. It's funny that the DEA's criteria for making something illegal (I may be a bit rusty on this) is 1) it's potential for addiction and abuse, 2) it's harm to society, and 3) harm to the individual. Apparently tobacco covers none of these.

You have my support and possitive thoughts, don't give up on this; it's only 1 month of feeling like shit for a lifetime of better health and not funding the government-approved corruption.
