I've been to a lot of message boards...

...and the pot related message boards are the only ones that have never banned me for having opinions and speaking them.

What does that say about our subculture? Everyone claims to value free speech, but it seems to me that stoners are the only ones who actually live by it. And it's not just our opinions that don't get censored, it's also our choice of words. We can say things like fuck and shit all we want, and no one cares!

    Isn't that cool?

That they are ignorant and don't pay attention to details lol? When you sign up for an account on the majority of all messageboards, you accept that you understand it belongs to someone else- you don't have free speach.

As a moderator of an auto-enthusiast board, people sometimes have to be reminded that they aren't entitled to say everything that they think or feel reguardless of the content if it's not deemed inappropriate by the majority.

I was kidding about the ignorant part and not flaming ya.

Well of course it belongs to them and they have all the authority to ban free speech if they choose to.

My point is that it's only the pot-site owners who make it a rule to allow free speech. That says a lot about stoners, and it says a lot about people who choose to run their message boards like dictators.

Our free speech is limited here too, granted it may be for good reason. Most message boards are free to their users and so someone else is picking up the bill. I don't mind rules against cussing if that is what the owner wants, I just wouldn't visit it.

I do concur that pot smokers are more open minded than the rest of the population as a whole.

I honestly think that has to do with the fact we are doing something that is deemed illegal (at least in most areas.) I think getting the attached stigma of us all being criminals, it opens your mind to other social taboo's.

I've voiced some of my very unpopular opinions on this site many times. I've had the entire board upset with me. But look, I'm still here. I haven't been banned yet.

But when I voice opinions on other sites that the "powers that be" don't agree with, I get banned in a heartbeat.

I, for one, appreciate the opportunity this website gives me to speak my mind.

I agree with you. I have only been a real member at one other board. I never had a problem there, but they had a board where you could go to and flame other members or start a holy war. I loved that site for controversy.

I'm sure the fact that pot is a mild psychedelic (therefore "mind opening") has alot to do with it to it too... perhaps more so than the legal status
