Mine smell like the laundry detergent or fabric softener sheets I use on my socks. I tend to wear socks alone when I'm just at home, and my favorite shoes are clogs, which are nice and loose. So odor isn't a problem. Even my workout shoes smell fine. I've read that zinc can help, as can baking soda (in shoes) and deodorizing powders and insoles. Odor often comes from bacteria that's begun to form in shoes that have gotten too sweaty and dirty. They say you should give shoes a day to dry out between wearings. Also, chlorophyll is a wonderful natural body deodorant, so eating lots of green leafy vegetables (or taking a chlorophyl supplement) can help with some odor problems. Once I read a tip that said if shoe odor is a really bad problem, you should put the shoes in a plastic bag and then put them in your freezer for 24 hours so the freezing temps can kill the bacteria. Don't know if that works or not, but it sounds like something worth trying!
