    Effects of suddenly quitting

I have noticed that whenever I go through a period of smoking up on a fairly regular basis for a couple of weeks, and then suddenly stop, my appetite and sex drive go down by a lot. Obviously when you're stoned, both of those things go up, but for several days after I stop, they are far below what they would be before I even tried pot.

Does anybody else go through that when taking a break from smoking every day? Is it a form of withdrawal?

    Effects of suddenly quitting

I've had to quit a few times over the last 8 years, but never longer than 6 months. I've smoked every single day that wasn't during one of the times I had quit. Anyway my appetite would seriously drop, to the point where I would take two bites of food and that was it. Sex drive for me actually went
up?? So not sure about that, but I better mention to that I think I have some serious problems with my stomach, I've just never got it checked out some I'm not sure. I also get little panic attacks sometimes to when I quit were I'll break out into a cold sweat for no reason and get pretty dizzy for a couple of minutes then it's just gone. So I hoped that helped good luck w/ the quitting thing it truly sucks to have someone tell you what you can and cannot do, when your perfectly capable of making that decision yourself.

Do you have any medical conditions like depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, over weight? Those can all lead to ED. Decreased appetite is normal since you don't have the "munchies". But sex drive shouldn't be from withdrawal, if anything it should improve.

My impression was that neither of the posters above was referring to ED but rather to changes in libido (desire).

Well his best bet would be to go in for a doctors appointment. It could be passable that the marijuana was masking a previous condition, or created one. Loss of sex drive could be from low testosterone levels. And theres so much more one needs to know. Past smoking habits, age, other drugs and medications one might be on, family history. Don't be afraid to ask a doctor face to face. If they can preform a lower GI on me they can easily take anything you can throw at them.

My guess is that you were just used to the heightened desires caused by weed, and when you stopped smoking those desires returning to your normal levels was an unexpected mental change. Cannabis has no physical withdrawal symptoms whatsoever so it more than likely is mental. Your health is also something that needs to be taken into consideration, but you should feel perfectly back to normal by tomorrow.

From what I've read on the site below, there actually can be some physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms after discontinuing weed, particularly for regular or heavy smokers. But they're not permanent, and theyr'e not like the sick withdrawal from a hard narcotic. Two of the common ones reported are apparently "anhedonia," or lack of ability to feel pleasure, which essentially is like depression, and lack of appetite. I always trust what Erowid has to say. They've gathered this info from thousands of people and years of research.
