Neighbor smokes weed and I think is hinting?

So this is what happened.

3 years ago this old dude moved in next door. This old dude is an avid traveler and constantly needs his house watched through out the year. So naturally he meets teenager neighbor kid (me) and asks me if I'm up for the task. Sure I say and 3 years pass and were pretty cool and I've been watching his house.

So around the 2nd year I start smoking heavily and come to realize my neighbor has a bong and a hookah in his house, but being as responsible as I am never TOUCHED it for weed or tell my friends about it because I know they'll fuck it up or get me in trouble in a heart beat.

I do, however, smell them and they did not smell like weed so I figure he just used it for tobacco or whatever.

This morning 1 year after my discovery, but still having slight suspisions he smoked but not caring, he proves me right. I'm driving him to the airport and he tells me he visits his kids every christmas and tells me they drink, get high the whole week and have a good time. Meaning he drinks and gets high with his kids.

I don't acknowledge it when he say's high I mean I'm 17, and he's, well old. So I just laugh, then I start thinking whoa. Then he goes I can use the house as my little getaway, I can chill there and I can't help but to wonder if he was hinting for me to admit I smoke.

I actually don't right now because the friends I did it with are stupid as fuck and are actually not my friends anymore. I have no trustworthy way of doing it after I got arrested last summer, and my girlfriend absolutely HATES it.

I'm thinking how cool would it be if I could start smoking with my neighbor.

Anyone have any ideas how I should approach this? Please be reasonable.

PS sorry this is like a fucking story.

you can get a conversation going about it, or you can fake like yout talking on the phone to your buddy about getting blazed later, buying a dimebag, or w/e. and let him hear you talking. but heres whats always worked for me..
me "so, do you smoke?"
them "no, why do you?"
me "every now and then, when its around"

why i choose to come out and say "every now and then" is because, if i ask them if they smoke, they could actually smoke but think im not cool with it, and say no. so if i say "every now and then" then it might give them the balls to come foreward and say they do smoke. and if he is actually against marijuana use, then he wouldnt really say mutch since the answer is just "every now and then"

First, are you on probation or being drug tested?

Second, something about his offer makes me a little leery, but I think that's because I'm a mom. I mean, is there any possibility that this guy's a pedophile and is interested in you in that way? I'm always suspicious when grown men (or "old guys," as you term this one) are interested in cultivating friendships with adolescent young men and offering them places in which to drink or get stoned, but perhaps his motivations are innocent. Let's hope so.

If you think he's totally safe and above board, I think the best approach is just a direct one. Talk to your neighbor. Tell him you're a cannabis fan but that your friends are losers and your girlfirend is opposed. Ask him if his offer was genuine. If you do decide to smoke at his place with him there, don't get too stoned the first few times so you can make sure you're safe. And make sure you're not the one who's always supplying the weed, if that turns out to be the other part of his motivation. Also, I'm sure you're already planning to do this, but be very discreet about what you're doing and who you talk to about it. If he does turn out to have honorable intentions, you don't want to put him or your new friendship at any risk.

Not that invading someones privacy or sexual preferences is in any not immoral,
but does he have a computer? You could do a quick check for any ..strange.. cookies or searches.

This is just the cautious part of me.
I'm a teen, and although we here on the news of creepy pedophiles luring children into their locked basement every once in a while, (a theory I have actually, that most missing people/children end up as basement sex slaves, kept alive for YEARS in some sicko's house) it isn't that hard to beleive that an adult, understanding the teenage mentality and remembering his/her own, wouldn't contribute a little to the delinquency of a minor.

ugh...enough ranting...
basically my final point is, play it safe, always have a cell phone, and try not to think about those poor kids in basements...

or that everyone around you could be slowly plotting behind your back, slowly gaining your trust, until one day the smiles turn into seething anger behind a locked door, and the brim of the volcano's edge is stained with the true essence of a man.

yeah go to toke withe guy, hes probably looking for some company. Or some weed lol, who knows? And if you think he might be a pedophile, just carry a small knife or something so if he tries anything, cut his balls and make him eat 'em
