I'd be more worried about the yellow leaves than the stems. Looks like she might be needing some N? What you feeding her? Overall they look really healthy though, beautiful plants. Are those 5 gallon pots? Your plants really should start to explode soon, once they finish filling those pots with roots, they'll take off. Like a week or 2 after we transplanted to big pots like that they started to just grow like a weed lol.
for sure i doubt it is any thing to worry about. I believe most pests breed in the soil or lay eggs under the leafs. Some of my plants have a bark like substace as the stems get really old.
