Being a porn star
Good points guys, trust me, i don't think it will be easy at all. I know it takes a lot of discipline and stamina. There is probably a lot of competition out there also. That won't deter me, however. Preferably, i'd like to have a visible six pack before i would apply, this may be being a bit pedantic but oh well, i want one =] Once i complete that goal, i'll take the next step more seriously. I may change my mind about that but as of now that's what i think i'll do.
Reefer Rogue Reviewed by Reefer Rogue on . Being a porn star Has anyone else besides me considered this? For me, a (good) job should be fun, rewarding, get a decent pay and you should want to go to work. I think being a porn star involves all of these premises. In all honesty i can't think of a better job then having sex with beautiful women and getting paid for it. Oh yeah, and you're either on tv or in a movie, so acting is part of the deal which is nice. I have no idea how i'd go about it though, i think i'd have to apply somewhere, i know you have to Rating: 5

Lol, it probably wouldn't matter. There's a lot of competition out there though, it would be nice to have one. The way i see girls drooling about them, it makes me want one so bad. It may not even be about the actual pack, just the confidence it will give and the appreciation of all my hard work. It will be a constant reminder. If other people are having sex with beautiful women for money it means i can do it too. Eventually. Nothing comes easy, determination is key.

Considering that 3/4s of the industry is gay porn guess where you get to start.

You have to be able to perform on demand in front of lots of people (think about trying to have sex w/someone you just met in the middle of home depot). It's really hard for guys to enter the porn industry & they get paid next to nothing (i mean there's guys who would pay to be in porn).

I would love to see you prove this statistic rather than pull it out of your ass. Seriously dude, 3/4ths of america isn't gay, why would we need that much gay porn?

I think he was saying that 3/4 of the industry is gay porn, not that 3/4 of the population is gay. But I'm not sure if that's an accurate percentage for gay porn.
I know the AIDs scare has hit the California porn industry very hard, if what I've read is correct. Within the last three years, a number of screen actors and actresses in the porn industry have tested HIV positive, and that fact has sent that industry reeling. If it's anything like real acting, remember that only a tiny fraction of folks achieve any impressive success, and most of those who speak honestly about it later say it was an awful, soul-less industry in which to work. Some huge percentage of actors/wannabes take one or two two roles of some type and then leave the industry altogether. The truth is that most porn wannabes are relegated to smaller, cheesier roles, some of them probably gay, and those increasingly popular (yet amateurish) porn video clips that are everywhere online. My guess is that there are other emotionally and physically healthier ways to make a living, probably a better living than selling yourself in front of a camera.
Is there any hope that you might develop a backup plan in case your plans to be a porn star don't pan out? Then you could keep sex as something special and pleasurable--maybe even with connection to emotional intimacy-- instead of as a job. Then later your past can't come back to haunt you, either. I rather get the feeling your career urge--or possibly this post about it--was ego-borne rather than ambition-driven.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

I doubt you'd be allowed to work in the porn industry if you have sti's or std's and i think you have to have mandatory checks. Ofcourse there's a hope for a backup plan, this itself could be a backup plan. I really doubt my past would come back to haunt me and if it did then it would be my own fault and i could handle it. I don't understand what you mean by ego borne, are you saying that i would be trying to improve my ego or that i already have a big ego to want to do this? I think you're saying i'm trying to improve my ego, which may be the case. I can use all the confidence i can get. Ambition is a part of it though, i have ambition to be happy, successful and ultimately well off. I want a job that will make me happy, i don't want some job which is just laborious manual labour like the job i have rite now... =/

Well, I'm glad if you could deal with the past coming back to haunt you. Later when you have a wife and kids and a real career, I hope that'll be true.
Regarding STDs and STIs in the porn industry, they do happen there just like they do anyplace else, probably at far greater levels than you can imagine since porn work involves so many partners and so much sleaze. Legitimate employers, producers and production companies test people and make sure they’re healthy. But if you think that all porn producers in the world are legitimate folks who’re working hard to make sure their employees are healthy, you don’t know much about that industry. It’s one that preys on young people, and ethics and employee health don’t rank highly in their concerns.
As I look back on what you originally wrote, I may be wrong about your motivation being ego-driven. You don’t have the same “I’m going to be God’s gift to porn” tone that some of our previous porn-ambitious posters have had. Still, I know there are a lot of young men who aspire to go into the industry because they think their bodies are going to be the be-all and end-all that rockets them to the pinnacle of porn success. Just realize that it’s not like that for most people. Like I said before, the ones who survive to tell about having worked in that industry (those who don’t die of suicide, STDs or drug overdoses—do some reading, I’m telling you the truth here) do not tell happy tales. My guess is that it’s an industry—like prostitution—that doesn’t generally beckon to happy, healthy, emotionally whole people to begin with.
As far as your being in the 1/4 of the industry that isn't gay, good luck with that. A job is a job, and that'd be a job. You'd be expected to do what was asked of you.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"
