Too late to Top??
Ok, I've thinned down the garden to the girls I'm keeping and gave 5 others to a friend. Because some of the tall ones turned out to be girls too, I'm thinking of topping a couple. I want to start flowering in a week or two...is it too late to top? They are on their 7th or 8th nodes and I just transplanted tonight into their final 3 gallon pots. I'm concerned that by topping they may be in shock for awhile and starting to flower so soon after topping might have an adverse effect?

Too late to Top??
No, you won't hurt them. I would go ahead and top them and then trigger flowering in two weeks time.

Too late to Top??
that's when you cut the top off causing two branches to grow in it's place...
fim (fuck! i missed!) technique is clipping 3/4 of the leaf bud so that up to eight new branches occur...

Is a week long enough for the new tops to grow in for flowering? Two sounds better to me.....

If your topping due to height issues, I would go with 1 week....the longer you veg the taller your girl will be in the end.....If your plant is healthy it will do fine.....I was forced into my first topping as my girl grew into the cfl and cooked the cola....I was 1 week into flowering when this happened, she survived better than my ego did.:smokin:

Too late to Top??
Thanks everyone!...this site rules. I have 6.5 feet to play with so height isn't too much of an issue....I mainly want to maintain an even canopy. Two of the plants are shorter and bushy by nature, 3 are bushy because they were clones that had clippings taken from them, and two are just big tall healthy growing girls. I'll top those two and flower in two weeks. Thanks again!

Too late to Top??
having 6.5 ft. to work w/ is irrelivent doco .
even if your using a 1000w. hps. the most penetration you'll get is approx. 4 ft. the lower parts of the plant will be under devoloped n light starved . i let mine veg. for 1 additional week after topping to help eliminate some of the strech .
